Chateau Lafite Rothschild
1008955C_LafiteR The vineyards of Château Lafite Rothschild sit on the highest knoll of the Pauillac area. The vineyard was at one time owned by Alexander de Segue, proprietor of Châteaux Latour and Calon Segur. Lafite became public property in 1794, after the owner (the President of the Parliament of Guyana) had been guillotined in the Revolution. After the property changed hands a few more times, the Rothschild family acquired it at auction in 1868 and remain the owners today. Robert M. Parker, Jr. on the 1988: “Extremely concentrated, with brilliantly focused flavors and huge tannins, this backward, yet impressively endowed Lafite-Rothschild may well turn out to be the wine of the vintage!” To learn more about Château Lafite Rothschild click here.
