My love of food, fine dining, wine and spirits began as a 19 year old on Nantucket. I landed a restaurant job waiting tables and lived in a large house with chefs, bartenders, sommeliers and waiters. Every night after work we would cook up something and open up something and discuss it. Fast forward many years. After assembling a somewhat respectable wine cellar, I pursued a personal passion and participated in a 20 week Sommelier Society of America course. I began wine/beverage service (very part time) at Hemingway’s Restaurant in Killington, VT, long recognized as one of Vermont‘s finest dining establishments. The owners referred me to Santé Magazine and I began reviewing wines and spirits for publication in the magazine. Santé asked me to attend and write about some NYC wine/food events. I had been published many times on their website when they asked me to suggest a wine bar topic for a feature article (Sarah’s Wine Bar-May 2009) in the magazine. I have judged a Beaujolais wine/New York City French bistro competition. I have traveled extensively and written on wines and spirits from all over the world including Israel, South West of France, Collio & Franciacorta, Italy, Navarra, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Nova Scotia, Washington state, Scotland, Long Island, Dallas, Texas as well as countless trips to New York and Massachusetts for food, wine and spirits events. If it’s made with inspiration and care, it will get my attention.
