BCA's 19th annual cultural awareness salute dinner was held on April 21st with great style and resounding success. Guests traveled from all over the country to attend this annual fund raiser and salute to those who contribute to the educational and career growths of students of color in the culinary and hospitality industry.
The three course meal was prepared by students of three different schools: course 1, The Culinary Institute of America; course 2, Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, Dallas; course 3, Culinary Program at FedCap.
The hors d'oeuvres were prepared by students from the Brooklyn Job Corp Academy, South Bronx Job Corp Academy, William E. Grady Career and Technical Education High School & Star Career Academy of NY.
The Viennese Dessert Reception was prepared by Johnson & Wales University, Brooklyn Job Corp Academy, South Bronx Job Corp Academy, Star Career Academy of NY, The Culinary Institute of America and William E. Grady Career and technical Education High School.
Produce, champagne, wine, and spirits were donated by various companies.
The evening included a silent auction and a live auction of art. Awards were given to outstanding professionals in the field as well as to outstanding students.
The evening was punctuating by an extraordinary Viennese dessert reception and music by the highly talented The Versatiles.
